The tragedy took place in Jalleru, Jangareddygudem zone of West Godavari district.Ten people were killed when an RTC bus collided head-on with a bridge railing.Another 9 people were seriously injured.Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jaganmohan Reddy expressed shock over the incident.Condolences were extended to the families of those who died in the incident.Authorities have ordered the families of those who lost their lives in the accident to pay ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh.
CM Jagan directed the District Collector to take appropriate steps to ensure better treatment to the injured.
The accident took place while the bus was on its way to Jangareddygudem from Velerupadu.
There were 47 passengers on the bus at the time of the accident.Nine people, including the bus driver, were killed, police said.
Another died at the hospital while receiving treatment, police said.Support activities are still ongoing.
