The State Election Commission (SEC) recently issued a notification for the election of candidates for the indirect posts of Mandal Parishad President (MPP) and Zilla Parishad (ZP) Chairman following the completion of counting of votes in the Parishad elections.
SEC Neelam Sawhney said in the notification that the election of MPP and ZP chairpersons would be held on September 24th and 25th.
Elections for the post of zonal co-opted member and zonal vice-president will be held on the day of the MPP election.On the day of the ZP chairman election, two co-opted members and two vice-chairmen will be elected in each district.
The notification also said that if the election of Co-opted members is not held in the morning, the elections to the respective zonal councils, district councils, MPP, vice-president, ZP chairman and vice-chairmen should be postponed to the following day, September 25, and the state election commission office should be informed.
The notification directed the returning officers to arrange the election for the next day, September 25, if the election of the MP and vice-president posts postpones along with the co-opted member on September 24.
