AP HC fires on YCP govt for appointing people with criminal record as TTD Board members

The Andhra Pradesh High Court has expressed outrage over the appointment of people with a criminal background to the Tirumala Tirupati Temple Board (TTD Board).BJP leader Bhanuprakash Reddy’s petition challenging the appointment of TTD board members was heard in the high court today.

Advocate Ashwini Kumar appeared on behalf of Bhanu Prakash.

Ashwini Kumar has objected to the appointment of Ketan Desai, a former chairman of the Medical Council of India, as a member of the governing body.

Responding to this, the court directed the government to issue notices to the respondents immediately.

Also, the High court directed the Principal Secretary, Department of Revenue to issue notices to the TTD secretary.

The High Court issued notices to a total of 18 members.It mentioned in the notice that the respondents should answer this within three weeks.

The Andhra Pradesh state government has issued several orders regarding the appointment of the new board of TTD.The YCP govt has reappointed YV Subbareddy as Chairman of TTD.Also, the state govt has appointed 24 officers as members along with four officers as ex-officio members.

Tirupati MLA Bhumana Karunakara Reddy and Brahmin Corporation Chairman Sudhakar were appointed as the special invitees and they were accompanied by another 50 special invitees.
