According to sources, Azad felt marginalized in his party and decided to leave.

He fought in the Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket but was unsuccessful.Although he was previously with the BJP before separating from the leadership, he left.

Azad is married to an active Delhi politician.

Azad is a former cricketer and the son of Bhagwat Jha Azad (Bihar Chief Minister).

Trinamool could use Azad as a valuable catch to increase its foothold in Bihar (the neighboring state of West Bengal).

Trinamool Congress will be a home for disgruntled Congress leadership who are fed up with their current functioning.

Azad could be the latest member of Trinamool.Luizinho Faleiro was an ex-chief Minister of Goa, close to Sonia Gandhi, and was also a member of the working committee.

He joined Trinamool, and later was elected to the Rajya Sabha.

Faleiro joined Trinamool following the footsteps of Sushmita, a former Congress women’s wing president who also joined Mamata’s Party.

Congress leaders who don’t find a home in Rahul Gandhi’s setup are leaving.Falerio will be a factor in the Goa election as he was one the MLAs of the five-member Congress legislative Party.
