A key leader of the Telugu Desam Party has been assassinated in the Macharla constituency of Guntur district.It is learned that Thota Chandraya, president of Gundlapadu village Telangana party in Veldurthy zone, was hacked to death by his opponents.
However, Telugu Desam leader Chandrababu Naidu recently participated in Chandraiah’s funeral.When Chandrababu reached Chandraiah’s house, he lent his shoulder to carry the corpse of the TDP leader during his final journey.
While he was sitting in the village centre discussing, his opponents killed him brutally.The assassins fled after the murder scene.
After learning of the incident, police rushed to the crime scene and began an investigation.Telugu Desam party leaders were outraged by the incident.“I strongly condemn the brutal murder of TDP village president Thota Chandraiah by YCP factional mobs in Gundlapadu village, Macharla constituency, Guntur district.The perpetrators of this atrocity should be arrested and punished immediately,” Nara Lokesh tweeted.
TDP has announced all the required support to Chandraiah family.The former Chief Minister and TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu condemned the incident and announced a visit to Macherla.
The TDP has alleged that murder politics has been ruling Andhra Pradesh since 2019.
