Hyderabad, Nov 22, : , All six Telangana Rashtra Samithi candidates (TRS), including Kadiyam, the former chief minister, and former chairman, Telangana Legislative Council G.Sukhender Reddy, were unopposed in Telangana Legislative Council’s Members of Legislative Assembly quota election on Monday.
They were unanimously elected, as six nominees had been received to be considered for the biennial election of six seats.The returning officer issued certificates to all six legislators who were elected on Monday.This was the last day of withdrawals.

Sukhender and Srihari Reddy were elected for the second consecutive term to the top house of the state legislature.

Surprise move by the ruling party, Banda Prakash was sent to the Council.In 2018, he was elected as Rajya Sabha.

P.Venkatarami Reddy was elected to the Upper House.He resigned from his position as Siddipet District Collector on November 15.

Venkatarami, who touched Chief Minister K.Chandrasekhar Rao’s feet, and whose alleged disdainful remarks about courts were causing row, retired from the service voluntary on November 15.On the following day, Venkatarami Reddy was named TRS Candidat.He was a Group I officer who had been promoted to IAS rank for 2007.

Kaushik Reddy was elected to the Council after he quit Congress four months earlier to become a member of TRS.On August 1, the state cabinet had decided to nominate Kaushikreddy as governor’s candidate and sent an recommendation to Governor Tamilisai soundararajan.

The TRS however decided that the Governor would not be able to clear the file and sent him to Council as per MLAs.

Ravinder Rao, secretary of TRS, was also elected to the top house.

On November 29, six seats on the Legislative Council went up for election.

The election of all candidates for the Legislative Council seats was not necessary because TRS is home to more than 100 members from its 119-member Assembly.

The terms of office for the MLCs in place expired June, but elections were not possible due to Covid-19’s second wave.

On June 3, Akulla Llitha, Mohammed Fareeduddin and Gutha Sukha Sukhenderreddy’s terms ended.Only Srihari and Sukhender were renominated.
