New Delhi, Aug 17 : In light of the growing number of Covid cases in various regions of the country the regulator for aviation, Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) on Wednesday made it obligatory for passengers to adhere to Covid procedures and wear masks on the aircraft.
The regulator stated that in light of the increase in the amount of Covid cases airlines were advised on the 16th of August to ensure that they are in compliance with Covid procedures within the aircraft.

Airlines must make sure that passengers wear masks for their faces properly and ensure that they are properly hygiene throughout their journey.

“In the event that a customer is not in compliance with the instructions, severe actions will be taken against the passenger by airlines,” said the regulator.

A top DGCA official stated that random tests will be conducted to check compliance.”Yes it’s becoming serious and in the light of this, we reiterated our directives to the people who are involved yesterday.We will follow up with random tests,” he said.

According to information from the Health Ministry, India has reported 9,062 Covid infections and 36 deaths in the past 24 hours.The current active caseload stands at 1,05,058.
