CBI officials have unearthed a huge scandal in NEET 2021, which manages admissions in medical colleges across the country.A coaching centre named RK Education Career Guidance in Maharashtra has been identified as the focal point of the scam.
A CBI official said that the coaching centre had collected Rs 50 lakh from each of the candidates to take the exam with proxy and get a seat in medicine in government medical colleges.Coaching centre administrator Parimal Kotpalliwar and several other students have been booked and detained in connection with the scandal.
According to the CBI FIR, Parimal took post-dated cheques from the parents of the students as part of the scam and kept the students’ Class-X and intermediate-certificates as collateral to pay the full amount after the payment.
According to the FIR, Parimal and his students had arranged for students’ IDs and passwords of genuine candidates to be collected, modified and sent to fake candidates.
The photos of the candidates to appear and the photos of the fake candidates were morphed.
They even managed to morph the ID cards and OMR sheets.
On the 12th of this month, CBI officials patrolled the exam centre to arrest five fake candidates, but the proxy candidates did not come to the examination centre on that day, an official said.
