African Swine Fever has been was detected in Punjab

Chandigarh 19 August : Punjab has been declared a “controlled zone” following the ICAR-National Institute of High Security Animal Diseases, Bhopal, confirmed African swine fever in samples of swine of the state’s Patiala Minister of Animal Husbandry Laljit Singh Bhullar said on Friday.
He stated that a notice was issued and went into force with immediate effect.

The minister stated that Bilaspur and Sanauri Adda village in Patiala district had been identified as the epicenter of the illness.

Bhullar stated that these areas were designated “infected zone” (0-1 km area around the epicenter of the disease) as well as “surveillance zone” (1-10 km area around the epicenter of disease).

Therefore there is no live or dead animal, including feral and wild pigs, pigs that are not processed, meat feed, or any other material or goods derived from the piggery farms or backyard piggeries should be removed of or taken into the zone of infection and no one shall try to market any pig product or pig that is believed to be infected with the disease that is scheduled to be fatal.

Ministers, quoting from the notification, stated that interstate movement of any animal or product must be strictly prohibited.
