Chennai, Nov 15, : , Senior Madras High Court advocates marched Monday against the Supreme Court Collegium’s decision that Chief Justice Sanjib Banerjee be transferred to Meghalaya.
Almost all the senior advocates of the Madras High court participated in the protest march.

Madras High Court Advocates Association (MHAA) President, G.Mohanakrishnan told IANS, “We are distressed to note that the present Chief Justice was recommended for transfer from Chennai to Meghalaya.G.Mohanakrishnan, President of Madras High Court Advocates Association, told IANS that it was distressing to learn that the current Chief Justice was being recommended for transfer from Chennai, Meghalaya.He had assumed office only in January 2021 and was a good judge.He was an excellent judge and had only taken office in January 2021.We fervently appeal to the Chief Justice of India and the Judges of the Supreme Court Collegium to consider the views of the legal fraternity and take a decision in the interest of all the stakeholders.”.We appeal to the Chief Judge of India and the Supreme Court Collegium Judges to take into consideration the views of the legal fraternity, and make a decision that is in the best interests of all stakeholders.

However Advocate G.Karthikeyan, Assistant Solicitor General of the Madras High Court and President, Madras Bar Association, questioned the logic behind the protest only for the Chief Justice and said many judges were shifted to other high courts in the recent past.Advocate G.Karthikeyan (Assistant Solicitor General, Madras High Court) and President of Madras Bar Association, however, challenged the logic behind the protest for the Chief Justice.He stated that many judges had been shifted to higher courts in recent years.
