Recently, Serum Institute of India (SII)’s Chairman Adar Poonawalla has created chaos in the minds of Indian citizens through a tweet.

He indirectly hinted that it requires Rs 80,000 crore to buy and distribute the Covid-19 vaccine to every citizen of India over the next year.

“Quick question; will the government of India have 80,000 crores available, over the next one year? Because that’s what @MoHFW_INDIA needs, to buy and distribute the vaccine to everyone in India. This is the next concerning challenge we need to tackle.@PMOIndia”.

Explaining about his statement after an hour, Adar again tweeted “I ask this question, because we need to plan and guide, vaccine manufacturers both in India and overseas to service the needs of our country in terms of procurement and distribution.”, tweeted the Chairman of Pune-based SII.

Many followers confused as the tweet came from nowhere. Most people said issues like this should be addressed at the government officials but not on a public platform.Even the Bahubali producer Shobu Yarlagadda felt the same thing and commented “I am really at loss to understand the intent of this question.Shouldn’t this be a direct and official conversation between the Govt.agencies and vaccine manufacturers? Is Twitter the right platform for a serious and important issue like this?”.
