This requires you to be aware of the factors that influence your behavior, attitude, perceptions and emotions.Personal leadership requires you to recognize your motives, needs and emotions.

First, think about how well you’ve led yourself in the past.

If you believe you’re self-aware, I want to ask you a simple question: How aware of you are you about yourself in order to determine if your self-awareness? Payal Anand is an assistant professor of organisational behavior at IIM Kozhikode. She asks this question in her book “Mastering Behavior – Managing Oneself and Others”.

Leadership is all about being in control of your anchors.Personal leadership is what it’s all about.

This is about being able to set a course for both your personal and professional life, and then follow it with clarity and consistency.Anand writes that leading the self means taking ownership for your behavior, thoughts, perceptions, and emotions.

It is all about understanding yourself, what you are looking for, how you feel, and how you perceive others. It’s fine to be a bit negative or have some traits you don’t like. Each of us is unique in some way, so I use the term unique to include both positive and negative qualities.

Knowing who you really are is the first step to self-awareness.

Knowing your personality and where it is most important will help you to understand yourself better and solve your problems with self-image and understanding.Anand writes that personality can be described as a set of patterns in your behaviours or attitudes.

The author’s personal experiences as well as her interactions with other people, make “Mastering Behavior” a book that Debashis Chatterjee (IIM-Kozhikode Director) has published. It explores the hidden world of behavioral insights.

The book uses popular psychology theories to help you deal with difficult workplace behaviours and interpersonal issues. The book provides insight into the practical challenges that come with technological advances, such as how to build trust and engagement within the team and organization.

Anand announced the release of it by saying: “We have all been in difficult situations at our workplaces. It is more common for workplace interactions to be negative than positive, it seems.

Most of these conflicting issues are due to behavioral differences or misunderstandings.

The two most valuable and helpful resources in the workplace are bosses and their peers.

The book also discusses personality conflicts, stressors and extreme emotions. It even talks about loneliness.in great detail.”

The book is engaging and fun.It includes interesting illustrations and experiential activities. There are also original emails that I received from students at IIM.I have interviewed 80+ industry professionals and added humour. This book is for first-time or final placement students, new managers and employees, as well as managers dealing with younger professionals in the private and public sector.Anand said.
