The pathetic incident happened on early Friday at the left bank of the plant.
Hydroelectric power station situated at Srisailam’s dam left bank in Telangana is set on fire due to a short circuit.
Later it turned into an explosion in 4th unit of the plant.The incident happened last night, and reportedly there were nearly 30 people on duty.
The reports say that 15 people have come out through a secret tunnel while the officials have rescued 6 people, and the whereabouts of nine is still unknown.The firefighters came to the spot immediately on receiving the news, and the rescue operation is in process.
The Telangana Electricity board minister Jagadeesh Reddy has rushed to the spot to inspect the situation.Speaking to media, Reddy said that power plant’s four panels were damaged and the power generation process will be stopped till the situation comes under control.
The Srisailam dam is situated on the Krishna river which separates Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.The station contains six power generators at the underground plant where each generator carries 150 MV of power capacity.
