‘Yatra 2’ is the upcoming sequel to the 2019 Telugu biographical film ‘Yatra’, which depicted the life and achievements of the late YS Rajasekhara Reddy, the former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.Malayalam superstar Mammootty, who played the role of YSR in the first film, will reprise his role in the sequel, along with Tamil actor Jiiva, who will portray YSR’s son and the current Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, YS Jagan Mohan Reddy.
The sequel will focus on the political journey and the challenges faced by YS Jagan after his father’s death, and his eventual victory in the 2019 elections.
The first look poster of ‘Yatra 2’ was unveiled by Mammootty on his social media account X (previously known as Twitter) on October 9, 2023.The poster shows Mammootty and Jiiva in a serious and intense face-off, with a caption that reads: “I may be unknown to this world, but remember one thing…I am YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s son.” The poster also announced that the film will release worldwide on February 8, 2024.
‘Yatra 2’ is directed by Mahi V Raghav, who also helmed the first film.The film is produced by Shiva Meka under V Celluloid and Three Autumn Leaves banners.
The music is composed by Santhosh Narayanan, who is known for his work in Tamil films like ‘Kabali’ and ‘Kaala’.The cinematography is done by R Madhie and the editing is by Shravan Katikaneni.
The film has generated a lot of buzz among the fans of both Mammootty and Jiiva, as well as the followers of YSR and YS Jagan.The film is expected to be a realistic and gripping portrayal of the political scenario in Andhra Pradesh in the past decade.

Jiiva, who is also a popular actor in Tamil cinema, has recently appeared in a cameo role in ‘Custody’, a comedy film directed by Venkat Prabhu.He was last seen in a lead role in ‘Varalaru Mukkiyam’, a historical drama written and directed by Santhosh Rajan.He has also signed a few other films in Tamil and Telugu languages.
