Hyderabad 31 August : Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) has demanded the resignation of Health Minister T.Harish Rao from the state Cabinet following the deaths of four women in the family planning surgery camp in Ranga Reddy district.TPCC head A.Revanth Reddy termed the deaths a’murder’ by the government.He also wondered what the motives behind the deaths of 34 women from families with poor incomes were treated in the camp.
Reddy who is an MP of Parliament who called on Wednesday some women who are being treated at Apollo Hospital in Hyderabad for complications after surgery.
After the deaths of four women who underwent Double Puncture Laparoscopy (DPL) at a family planning surgery camp in Ranga Reddy district, authorities moved the remaining 30 women to various hospitals to receive treatment.
Thirteen women were admitted to Apollo Hospital and the remaining 17 were transferred to the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS) in Hyderabad.
Four women died because of complications after having DPL during the female sterilization camp held on August 25 , at Civil Hospital at Ibrahimpatnam in Ranga Reddy district.
They were suffering of acute gastroenteritis.They died in the course of treatment.Two deaths were announced on Tuesday and Monday.
Revanth Reddy stated Revanth Reddy said that Harish Rao was given the task of being entrusted with the health portfolio due to of his “efficiency,” however, this incident took place while he is in charge of the health department.
The Congress leader declared the demotion of officials as an attempt to smear and demanded that criminal charges be brought against them.
Reddy said that the Congress will conduct an intense campaign for the benefit of those who suffer and file an action with the National Commission for Women.
He discredited the claims of the government’s ruling TRS that state hospitals in the state are offering services on the same level with the corporate hospitals.
“If this is the case then why have the women been admitted to hospitals of corporate chains to receive treatment?” he asked.
