Townsville (Queensland) August 29 : Australia white-ball skipper Aaron Finch has said he is very satisfied with the way that tall all-rounder Cameron Green is shaping up in limited-overs cricket following the 23-year-old racked up his first five-wicket haul in the first One-Day International against Zimbabwe and guided the home team to a five-wicket victory here.Green destroyed Zimbabwe’s middle order and returned figures of 5/33 in nine overs, as the tourists were dismissed in a total of 200 in 47.3 overs.Australia then surpassed the target to lose of five wickets with David Warner scoring a half-century, and Steve Smith and all-rounder Glenn Maxwell making their mark with valuable contributions.
“He (Green) adheres to his plan really well.” Finch was quoted by cricket.com.au.
“He is able to adapt on the fly, which is vital in this style of the game.For someone so young to possess this much experience in cricket is vital and he simply balances our team perfectly,” added Finch.
Green who kicked off the demolition run with the crucial wicket of Sikandar Raza Green, who was the first to take the wicket, said he is satisfied with how he is integrating in the ODI squad.Green also played a crucial function with the ball in the Ashes series, taking 13 wickets for an average of 15.76.
“I have a very clear game strategy,” Green said after being awarded as the Player of the Match.”I would not say that anything has changed since the games before.I was just a little lucky at the end.I was trying to throw back of length on the wicket that was moving up and down I didn’t need to alter my technique to much.”
“I did not initially get the idea to know that (closing the innings) was my responsibility.However, the moment Finchy (captain Finch) threw me the ball, I was eager to get a shot at the task.I didn’t have to strike yorkers or shift the way I usually do, but it’s something I’ll be studying.”
