Panaji 26 August : Goa police are collecting evidence and documents in the case of death of Haryana BJP head as well as TikTok celebrity Sonali Phogat.Police say the arrest in the case is expected to be announced after evidence is collected.The Inspector General of Police Omvir Singh Bishnoi informed that an FIR under Section 302 (murder) was filed at the Anjuna Police Station based on the complaint made by the brother of Phogat.
Police have registered a investigation against her personal assistant Sudhir Sangwan and his colleague Sukhwinder Wasi on Thursday.
“The case was filed on Thursday, following an incident brought from Rinku Dhaka, who is the brother of Sonali Phogat.He claimed to have made accusations against two individuals and we’ve begun asking them questions,” Bishnoi said.
“We are taking statements.There is no specific reason of death.
We are collecting the evidence whether they are digital or physical or evidence from oral.While a postmortem is taking place, we haven’t received the report.
Both suspects are being interrogated and an arrest is expected following any evidence discovered,” he said.
Goa Police on Thursday said Phogat’s body suffered’multiple sharp force injuries’ according to the report on postmortem.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police Jivba Dalvi said to IANS on Thursday evening that no arrests had been made in this matter (till late on Thursday).
According to Goa police, Phogat was uneasy at night on Monday and afterwards in the morning (on Tuesday), she was taken to St.Anthony hospital in Anjuna at about 8 a.m.The hospital was where she was declared to death.
She had traveled to Goa on the 22nd of August.
She was staying in an hotel in Anjuna.
