While neither of the participants answered questions put to them by media representatives about the meeting, it has again led to speculations regarding the likelihood of Swamy being a participant in the Trinamool Congress.

Swamy, who is a critic of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has in recent times on social media, criticized Modi’s Central government on a variety of issues, ranging from economics to foreign issues.

In November of last year, Banerjee had a meeting with Swamy in Delhi, that had led to speculations about similar meetings.

Swamy has since made an unintentional statement that there was no need for him to join the Trinamool Congress since he is already with Mamata Banerjee.

According to some sources, Swamy is “upset” for not being granted an opportunity to be in the Union cabinet.

Finally, he was also dropped from the working committee for the national level, a move that prompted him to express his displeasure.
