Los Angeles, Aug 18 : A$AP Rocky has pleaded not guilty to charges of assault and weapon use that stemmed from a fight he was involved in with an ex-rapper friend in Los Angeles. Rocky who was dressed in navy blue suits and sparkling diamond earrings was escorted by three bodyguards when he was taken to LA the criminal court to be arraigned, according to nypost.com.
The 33-year-old Manhattan native with the real name of Rakim Mayers is accused of shooting two shots in the direction of the former “A$AP Mob rapper A$AP Relli in November.
He moved with an air of confidence to the podium within the courtroom, and made the perfect posture with his head cocked before submitting the plea via his attorney, Sara Kaplan.
He did not say anything other than “I do, my honor” and “I am aware of this” when the judge Victoria Wilson set a date for his court date on the 2nd of November.
The court issued a protective order to A$AP Rocky and prohibited the rapper from contacting members of the “A$AP Mob” and Kaplan requested for the order to be interpreted in both directions.
“I would like to have that the protective order be mutual, as my client is in danger,” she told the judge, who replied that Kaplan must provide documents to obtain the order.
The “Praise the Lord” rapper was slapped on Monday with two charges of assault with semi-automatic weapons with the possibility of having firearms in the incident, according to investigators.
“Discharging guns in an area that is not a private one is a serious crime that could have been averted with devastating consequences, not just for the person being targeted, but as well for innocent people who are going to Hollywood,” said Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon.
The new charges were brought following the rapper’s detained for assault with an armed weapon that was deadly linked to the incident, after being spotted at LA International Airport with girlfriend Rihanna in April.He was granted bail of $550,000.
