US, Taiwan announce plan to begin discussions on trade

Washington/Taipei on 18 August : The US and Taiwan have announced that talks on trade will officially begin after both sides agree on a protocol.
Both sides had laid out the general goals for trade talks that aim to “deepen our investment and trade relationship, promote the mutual interests in trade based upon shared values, and to promote an inclusive and sustainable economic development for our employees and companies” the deputy US Trade Representative Sarah Bianchi said in a statement late on Wednesday.
