New Delhi, Aug 12 : Former Australian captain Ricky Ponting feels that the most apex of Test cricket will be the actual rivalry between India and Pakistan as Ashes is a match between England as well as Australia. Ponting played in many of important match at the major tournaments throughout his playing career, with the rivalry between Australia and England during the Ashes the most intense he had ever.
He loved the extra pressure that came with the squabbles.
“To be honest, it’s a topic we’ve been deprived of aren’t we .in looking back on the recent 15 or 20 years?” Ponting said in the most recent episode of The ICC Review.
“As an avid cricket fan like myself and a keen observer of cricket, when these types of contests are played, it’s always enjoyable to observe because everything gets better does it not?” he added.
The reason is that India as well as Pakistan haven’t played against each other in Tests since they played for a high-scoring draw in Bengaluru in 2007.

There is a possibility that the two countries could play once more in the last match of the ICC World Test Championship next year.
Ponting would like to see their rivalry expand even more with the introduction of more red-ball cricket.
The rivalry between India and Pakistan is one of cricket’s most enduring rivalries.
When asked how this already formidable rivalry could be intensified the Australian suggested that Test cricket be a part of the equation.
“When I think of rivalries, Australia and England and Ashes cricket is the highest level I’ve often imagined of in our Test match,” Ponting noted.
“I’m certain India as well as Pakistanis will have the same opinion about this, and the actual rivalry could be the highest point of Test match cricket between these two nations,” he added.
