Lucknow 10 Aug : Anu Tyagi, wife of the self-proclaimed BJP leader Shrikant Tyagi, on Wednesday stated that her husband is a member of the BJP.Speaking to journalists, she alleged that her family was harassed at the direction of BJP MP Mahesh Sharma. When Mahesh Sharma was questioned about her claim that Shrikant Tyagi wasn’t an BJP member, she said: “My husband was a BJP member.The whole drama is being performed by the behest of Mahesh Sharma.He has abused the commissioner of police.This is the reason why the police were being unruly with us.”
She stated, “My husband would have surrendered the very first day, but we were merely in the waiting room for a lawyer so we could pursue the appropriate legal recourse.If I hadn’t been detained by the police station and my husband had been detained, he would have surrendered the next day, as I could have contacted counsel and sought legal assistance,” she said.
She added she was aware that Shrikant Tyagi had surrendered and was not arrested in any of the raids.
Anu Tyagi claimed that her staff members were subjected third-degree torture.
She added that her kids were being abused.
She stated: “I was not tortured physically however, I was being hounded mentally.The police acted in a sloppy manner in every way that they could even though I was completely willing to cooperate in the probe.Where is Yogi Ji now? Are I not a woman?”
“At the police station I pleaded with the police to let me leave, as my kids were at home.There was no cop there either,” she said.
Shrikant Tyagi was arrested by Noida police on Tuesday, after assaulting and abusing an elderly woman in his housing association in Noida.
His arrest came just a day after bulldozers destroyed the illegally constructed structures in front of his house in the Grand Omaxe housing society in Noida’s Sector 93B.
