Ukraine wants to get help from Germany in securing 8 billion euros from the EU

Kiev 9 August : Ukraine is hoping for assistance from Germany in receiving 8 billion euros (about $8.17 billion) in aid from the European Union (EU), Ukrainian Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal told reporters.
“Germany will assist Ukraine to quickly receive the 8 billion euros of macro-financial support from the EU and will lead in this effort,” Shmyhal wrote on Facebook on Monday, following online discussions with German Finance Minister Christian Lindner.

Since the beginning of the conflict between Ukraine and Russia, Germany has provided significant financial assistance to Kiev, he said, without providing specific numbers, Xinhua news agency reported.

Kiev will also count on Germany’s help in the effort to delay the payments to its foreign debts and also to establish the new cooperation program with the International Monetary Fund, the Ukrainian Prime Minister said.
