Odisha Cong takes out protest marches to Raj Bhavan to protest against the price rise

Bhubaneswar 5 August : The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) on Friday staged a protest march on Raj Bhavan against the price hike of basic commodities as well as joblessness.
OPCC President Sarat Pattanayak led the protest marches that stalled before it reached Raj Bhavan as well as the Congress officials were arrested by security personnel.

Irate Congress activists sat on a dharna in the road.

Many Congress members and their staff were detained as a precautionary measure by police trying to break through the barricade in their attempt to push the rally to the next level According to sources.

Before heading to Raj Bhawan, the Congress workers and their leaders gathered before the ADM office in this area and chanted anti-BJP slogans.BJP government at the Centre and in particular, against the Naveen Patnaik government, accusing it for not taking into account the interests of the people.

The BJP government has imposed taxes on food items that are essential to the daily lives of poor people , including biscuits curd, atta, rice puffed (mudhi) and rice that has been flattened (chuda).On the other the other hand, it has waived tax and loan of industrialists with huge amounts, allegedly Pattanayak.

The Centre should immediately stop the exorbitant rates of goods and other things to ensure the health of ordinary people.Tax-free for the poor is a must, he said.

“The Narendra Modi government had used votes to manipulate the people in the name of “acchhe Din”.The imposing of GST for food items such as rice puffed is shameful,” said Congress legislator Taraparasad Bahinipati.

“The BJP and the BJD in alliance, have introduced GST on foodstuffs of people who are poor.The BJP had made a campaign pledge to create jobs for two millions of individuals in the country each year, however, around 15 crore young people have been in unemployment in the past eight years of its tenure,” alleged another Congress MLA Suresh Routray.

In response to the demonstration of Congress, BJP leader Prithiviraj Harichandan claimed that the party is working to create a chaotic atmosphere in the country in order to provide the leaders of their party protection Sonia and Rahul Gandhi in the National Herald case.
