Guwahati 5 August : The Indian Army’s Eastern Command chief Lt Gen R.P.Kalita reiterated the necessity of being operationally prepared 24 hours a day to deal with any eventuality that may arise near the northern border while top brass and experts discussed the Chinese threat. Lt Gen Kalita along with others Army senior officers experts and panelists during a two-day conference on the subject of “Demystifying the Dragon” On Thursday and Friday, discussed the implications of the border between China and India and the way forward for Indian Armed Forces.
According to the defence spokesman Lt.Col Mahendra Rawat, the conference addressed important issues at an tactical and operational levels including security issues and measures to develop capability as well as modernization of the military in order to formulate practical strategies to further enhance India’s security infrastructure along its Northern frontiers.
The seminar-cum-panel discussion was arranged by the Gajraj Corps, under the supervision of Eastern Army Command, in Tezpur.
The keynote speech was given by 4 Corps GOC Lt Gen D.S.Rana who set the tone for the conference which featured discussions and talks by prominent experts in the field, including senior academicians, diplomats and military leaders in three sessions that focused on China-Indian geo-strategic complexities, the Sino-Indian geo Boundary Border Management and Disputes, as well as Chinese military Reforms as a driving force in the realization of China’s global ambitions.
The discussion was led by distinguished panelists, including Ambassador Ashok Kantha, Lt Gen Ranbir Singh (retd) Lt Gen S.L.Narasimhan (retd) and Lt Gen Raj Shukla (retd).The panelists offered a multi-faceted perspective of the outline of India’s relationship with China and the ongoing process of modernisation of the military and the rise in Chinese aspirations to the world the defence spokesperson said.
This event was attended by more than 200 officers of the Indian Armed Forces physically and many more via virtual platforms.
