Lashana Lynch To Play Bob Marley\'s Wife In His Biopic

Lashana Lynch is set to portray the wife of Bob Marley in the biopic of his life.

Los Angeles, Aug 5 : British actress Lashana Lynch, known for her performance in “No Time To Die” was tapped to play the role of Bob Marley’s wife, Rita, in the untitled Bob Marley biopic.
Her co-star British actor Kingsley Ben-Adir, will be playing the iconic Reggae singer with King Richard director Reinaldo Marcus Green in charge of the project according to “Deadline”.

Like the casting of Bob the actor, a huge net was cast to finding the perfect actor to portray Rita including trying to find someone with Jamaican origins (Lynch was born in England but her family is from Jamaica).

According to ‘Deadline after several tests, including chemistry readings with Ben-Adir Lynch did not just win over executives, but also Rita and the Marley family who gave their approval for the casting.

“Deadline” further says that Rita, Ziggy and Cedella Marley will produce on behalf of Tuff Gong.Robert Teitel will also produce.

The script was written by Green and Zach Baylin.

Bob Marley died of cancer in 1981, aged 36 However, in his short life he transformed the landscape of music by the first generation to be introduced to reggae with songs like “Get Up, Stand Up”, “One Love”, “No Woman, No Cry”, “Could You Be Loved”, “Buffalo Soldier”, “Jammin” and “Redemption Song”.

While the public will remember Bob for his influence on the Reggae scene and political activism, Rita’s story of love has a timeless feel to it.It is important to telling his amazing life story.

The two first met at a time when Rita was a singer in her early years and Bob was still a part of The Wailers vocal group.When she became a part of The Soulettes, Marley began coaching The Soulettes, which eventually resulted in the two of them falling in love.

Lynch has recently been was recently seen in Marvel’s “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness”.The next film for her will be Sony’s “The Woman King” that is already generating awards season buzz.

She is also in Netflix’s “Matilda” adaptation in which she is playing the role of Ms.Honey.
