Fox Business reported that “the disruptions continued throughout the holiday weekend, stranding holiday travellers at airports across America.”
According to the report, major carriers like JetBlue, United, and Delta all blame the Omicron variant of causing staffing issues that eventually led to cancellations.
A spokesperson for United stated earlier this week that normal operation would not resume until a date was set.
Over the last year, flight delays and cancellations due to staff shortages were a frequent problem in the US airline industry.
These latest disturbances occur at a moment when Transportation Security Administration (TSA), projected that travel volumes would be close to pre-pandemic levels.
