Centurion 28 December : .South Africa was 21 for 1, at lunch after they beat India 327 for the third wicket in the Test at SuperSport Park here Tuesday. South Africa’s innings was also hampered by India’s collapse.Jasprit Bhumrah had to dismiss Dean Elgar, the Proteas’ captain, in the first over.
Keegan Petersen (11) and Aiden Markram (9) were the only wickets available to Indian bowlers until lunch.Proteas trailed by 306 runs at end of the first session.
An earlier day, the Proteas pacers Lungi Nadi (6/71), Kagiso Rahbada (3/72) — used bounce and lateral movements to perfect their game and rattled Indian batting attacks, eventually dismissing them under par.
Indian cricket lost seven wickets in quick succession and only managed to add 55 runs overnight.
KL Rahul (123/260) was first to be dismissed.He looked fine on Day 1.Although the opener attempted to pull Rabada off a spin, he was unable to do so and Quinton de Kock caught it.
Ajinkya Rahane (48) was next, and he attempted to take a shot off Ngidi but could only catch the ball.The likes of Rishabh Pan (8), Ravichandran Ashwin ((4)), Shardul Thakur (4/4) and Md Shami (8/8) were out quickly.
Indian cricket was given a late boost by the 19-run last-wicket partnership between Jasprit Bhumrah (14) and Md Siraj (4/4).
The second day of the continuing Test ended without any ball being bowled Monday.
