Are G-23ers At The End Of Their Road Or Is There Hope For Revival?-TeluguStop.com

Team Rahul takes key decisions in the party and has full control over the nominations and appointments.
Although the G-23 is now a small group, Anand Sharma and Kapil Sibal are still prominent members of the party.

Many of those who signed that explosive letter were retrained within their party, or brought down opposition.Veerappa Moily, one of the signatories, had publicly stated “there is no G-23”, and Jitin Prasada, one of them, has left Congress to join BJP.

However, Anand Sharma’s presence and Bhupinder Singh Choda’s at the party headquarters on Tuesday were mixed signals. These members have been happy with Sonia Gandhi, but are concerned about Rahul Gandhi’s working style.

Ghulam Azad had, when he addressed a meeting, categorically denied that he was leaving the party. He stated, “I’m a 24-carat Congressman.” While the former Jammu Kashmir Chief minister is addressing rallies, his supporters quit the party in order to support him for CM.

Some G-23 leaders privately feel that this is the end for the party until Rahul Gandhi takes over, however some others say they will still be with the party as tenants after giving their prime years to it.

The party continues to work hard to maintain a high strike rate for the upcoming elections. However, Sonia Gandhi addressed party workers on Tuesday and said that although electoral losses have occurred, she believes the party will continue to fight.

She also stated that while electoral ups or downs may be inevitable, what’s lasting and long-lasting is the party’s dedication to serving all members of society.

Although the party tried to reach out and engage with dissenters, Kamal Nath was roped in and for a time Priyanka stepped in to help resolve the crisis. However, the matter has yet to be resolved.

G-23 demands consultations on key positions and pre-discussions before decisions can be made.Although the party will be holding elections in 2022 for President, it is not likely that Rahul Gandhi will challenge them. However, if Rahul Gandhi pushes for a proxy then the contest becomes inevitable.

The G-23 does not have sufficient numbers to call for changes in Congress Working Committee (CWC).This is the highest decision-making body within the party and can remove or appoint any President.

However, a two-thirds majority is needed for this.

The CWC will consist of the President, Leader of Congress Party in Parliament and 23 additional members, 12 of which will be elected as required by the AICC.

All other members shall be appointed by President.According to the party constitution, eight is the quorum required for any meeting of the Working Committee.
