According to NPR, “Although airline travel had been recovering before Omicron was introduced, the large spike in positive Covid-19 case seen in the recent weeks has caused concern for airlines in order to keep airline employees and passengers safe.”

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), as well as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, are being urged to take major steps to require proof of vaccination and a negative Covid-19 screening for domestic flight travel.

In a Monday letter, the legislators wrote to the CDC/FAA that “Ensuring safety and health of passengers and the destination communities is crucial to mitigating this ongoing Covid-19 surge,” they said.

According to the CDC, vaccination protocols are in place for foreign travelers who travel into the US.
