3-day Bengali literary festival will begin on December 10

Kolkata, Dec 8, 2008 : Apejay Bangla Sahitya Utsav (ABSU), India’s first literary festival in Bengali, is all set to begin on December 10.
The seventh edition of the three day literature festival will take place between December 10-12.

It will be streamed live on Festival’s social media platforms.On the third day, physical sessions at Oxford Bookstore will take place.

These can also be viewed on various digital platforms of Apeejay Bangla Sahitya Utsav.

In 2015, India’s first Bengali literary fest was created by Oxford Bookstores.

It will examine trends and changes in Bengali literature through discussions and debates on a wide range of topics, from literary fiction and nonfiction to history, society and translations.

The literary festival will be spread over three days and include 16 enriching discussion sessions.

It will feature a line up of speakers from all walks of the literary world, including playwrights, writers, journalists, cultural icons, and recipients of major literary awards.

ABSU, India’s first Bangla Literary Festival, was created by Oxford Bookstores in 2015, which is almost 100 years old.It honors the rich literary tradition of Bangla.

ABSU’s mission is to make Bangla literature more visible and accessible, to build an audience for Bangla-language books, and to create a culture of reading and familiarization with Bangla language among youth.

ABSU is an interactive platform that brings together voices from contemporary Bangla Literature on the international and national stages.It showcases all aspects Bangla literature and literary expression, as well as their impact on other art forms.

Swagat Sengupta, Director ABSU & CEO Oxford Bookstores, spoke on the occasion.”This is the second consecutive year that we have been able to curate an online and physical festival of this stature.” Special sessions will be held to pay homage to Sankha Ghosh and Buddhadeb Guha, as well as Anish Deb.It will also feature 16 sessions that are specially curated and include graphic novels, audiobooks, journalism, cinema, and Bangla literature.

Anindita Chaterjee, Executive Trustee of Prabha Khaitan Foundation, stated that this is the second year Prabha Khaitan Foundation has been associated with Apeejay Bangla Sahitya Utsav.We have the literary initiative “Aakhar” which is available in more than 10 Indian cities as part of our efforts to promote regional languages.

We hope to promote Bengali literature through this association.I hope this association will be a catalyst for both organizations to achieve their goals.I wish ABSU every success.

The seventh edition Apejay Bangla Sahitya Utsav features prominent personalities such as Shirshendu Mokhopadhyay and Pabitra Sarkar.
