New Delhi, Dec 8 : With an aim to make maths learning more visual and interactive, edtech unicorn BYJU’s on Wednesday announced that it has acquired Austria-headquartered GeoGebra for an undisclosed sum. BYJU’s stated that the Austrian company has a collaborative and interactive mathematics learning tool.The company will continue to operate independently within the BYJU’S Group under the direction of Markus Hohenwarter, its Founder and Developer.
“The GeoGebra team created a powerful and stimulating platform that supports BYJU’s mission to provide impactful learning for students.
It is designed to improve mathematical understanding and provides interactive resources that adapt to each child’s learning style and pace,” Anita Kishore (Chairman of the Strategy Office at BYJU’S) stated in a statement.
“BYJU’S has been making Math engaging, fun, and visual with the help innovative teaching and technology.Kishore said that GeoGebra is now onboard, and will continue to enhance, reimagine, and transform the way Math learning and teaching is done.”
This acquisition is part of BYJU’S overall product strategy.It integrates GeoGebra’s capabilities to enable GeoGebra to create new product offerings and learning modes to its existing mathematics portfolio.
According to the company, the move aims to make math more fun and improve learning outcomes.
The combination of two companies with similar goals will provide students with comprehensive, personalized and immersive learning experiences.
Hohenwarter stated, “I am confident this partnership will help millions more students learn mathematics in a interactive way.It will make them overcome their fear and learn how to master it.”
BYJU’S was launched in 2015 and has more than 115 million students learning from the app.
