Mumbai, Dec 6 : .India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin applauded New Zealand left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel’s 10-wicket win.

He also said that destiny played its part .

On Saturday the second day, Patel became the third bowler to score all 10 wickets in a Test innings.He scored figures of 10/119 in 47.5 Overs.New Zealand lost the series 1-0.Patel’s historic performance and overall match haul of 14 wickets was not enough to help New Zealand avoid a 372-run loss and lose the series 1-0 on Monday.

“Before I get to what I did, it was a wonderful performance by Ajaz.It doesn’t spin all the time in Wankhede, and he used the seam and put the ball in the right places, and there was a bit of destiny involved in his 10-for too,” said Ashwin in the post-match presentation ceremony.

Ashwin was adjudged ‘Player of the series’ for picking 14 wickets at an average of 11.35 and making 70 runs with the bat in three innings.”I think I have 10 (Player-of-the Series) awards now.It was a good pitch.I liked the way it spun and had more bite.Wankhede was a great experience.Every day brought new challenges and I enjoyed it.”

When Ashwin was asked about his spin partners at Wankhede Jayant Yadav and Axar Patel, he praised both.

“Jayant has been with me since 2014, when he flew to Chennai from Haryana to get my thoughts.Axar, I have been playing for a while at Kings as well as Delhi Capitals.”

The 35-year-old said that he would love to win a Test series against South Africa.This is India’s next assignment, and will be starting on December 26.

“I would like to play a part for South Africa and win the series.We have never done it before and we hope to do it again.”
