New Delhi, Nov 30, : , Rajya Sabha Chairman M.Venkaiah Naidu rejected Tuesday’s Opposition appeal for the revocation of suspensions of 12 MPs.
“I am not considering Mallikarjun Kharge’s appeal to revoke suspension for 12 MPs, as the suspended MPs are not apologising and are justifying their behavior,” he stated.

During this time, Opposition members staged an unofficial walk-out.

Kharge had raised this issue under rule 256, stating that the suspension was against rules of the procedure of rules.

“The members have been suspended for conduct that occurred during the previous session and is against House rules,” the LoP stated, adding that there is no need to apologize.

The Chairman replied that the House had adopted a motion, and that on the day of its occurrence, the Chair named the MPs.

On Tuesday morning, all Opposition parties except the TMC met at Kharge’s office to discuss a strategy.They were disappointed when they did not meet the Chair.

Derek O’Brien, TMC, stated that the Members were forced to act in this manner during the Monsoon session because certain issues were not being discussed despite repeated requests.He stated that “not the 12 Opposition MPs, but the 80 MPs from the Treasury should be suspended.”

The Upper House suspended 12 MPs from the winter session.This was in response to ruckus created by the House during the monsoon sessions on August 11.

The members are: Syed Naseer Hussain and Akhilesh Prasad Sing, Phulo Devi netam, Chhaya verma, Ripun Boara and Rajmani Patel of Congress, Priyanka Chandvedi, Anil Dasai of Shiv Sena and Elamaram Karem of CPI-M, Binoy Vishuam of CPI, Dola Sen and Shanta Chhetri from the Trinamooooooooooy Viswam of CPI, Dola Sen, Dola Sen and Shanta Chhetri
