20 students test positive for Covid in K’taka

Bengaluru, Nov 30, : District administrations are on high alert following the positive test results for Covid-19 by 13 students at a government-run hostel in Hassan, and seven students at medical college, according to officials from the health department.
The authorities sealed the Morarji Dasai hostel in Guramaranahalli village, Channarayapatna Taluk of Hassan and Chamarajanagar Medical Sciences Institute after they discovered positive cases.

All infected hostel students have been moved to a Covid Care Centre.According to the health department, all are symptomatic and well on their way to recovery.

It was decided to test the primary contacts of infected students.

The routine RTPCR tests that the health department conducts every 15 days for the detection of the infections revealed the infection.Covid-19 was found in hostel students from Class 6-10.All of them were isolated and are currently being treated.

Three hundred and twenty-five students from the Chamarajanagar Medical Sciences Institute were subject to Covid testing.Seven of them were positive.

The results of the Covid tests on approximately 500 primary contacts of students and staff were negative.Further tests were done on 150 students.The results are still being analyzed.

The situation has been closely monitored by the district administrations, who are working to contain the spread of the disease within the clusters.

The infectious disease has not yet spread to residential areas.

More than 280 people were recently tested positive for Covid at Dharwad’s SDM Medical College.

The infections were also reported at Bengaluru International Boarding School.The authorities managed to control the situation and the infection has not spread further.
