Lucknow, Nov 30, : Uttar Pradesh has reached another milestone in vaccine delivery.The state has recorded more than 16 million doses of vaccines as of Monday. This means that more than 76% of the state’s eligible population have received at least one dose, while 33% are fully vaccinated.
This was after the state had started vaccinations on January 16, 2021.It took 10.5 months for the state to reach this number.
Uttar Pradesh had administered 16,02,09264 doses by Monday evening.This includes 11,11,605,526 doses to people who received one shot and 4,9048,738 doses for the second.
Maharashtra is second, having administered more than 11.20 crore doses.
Amit Mohanprasad, the additional chief secretary (health), stated that the government was intensifying its efforts to vaccinate people in light of the Omicron virus.
Asha and anganwadi workers were given the task of conducting a door to door awareness campaign.
They will also be required to dispel myths and encourage people to get the vaccine.
Official said that Covid testing was being done at airports due to the new variant, which has spread to more than 12 other countries since it was identified.
Directions were also given to all district administrations to be very vigilant and cautious.
He said, “There are 86 cases currently in the state of affairs, of which 67 are in isolation at home.”
Five new cases were reported in four districts.Two of them were from Lucknow, the state capital.There are now 15 active cases.
