Phnom Penh : , Nov 30 : .The Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni, Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk extended their deep condolences to the royal families that have lost Prince Norodom Ranariddh. Sihamoni sent a condolence message Monday saying, “I would like express my deepest sorrow and sympathy to the bereaved Royal families over Prince’s passing,”
He said, “The passing of Prince Norodom Ranariddh marks the loss of a great dad for his children, daughters, friends, and relatives, as well as the loss of an outstanding royal figure who had greatly contributed towards the cause of the nation and religion, King.”
Queen Mother Norodom Monineath Sihanouk stated that she was shocked to hear about the Prince’s passing and expressed her deep grief to the royal families, Xinhua news agency reported.
In a condolence note, she wrote that she prayed for Prince Norodom Ranariddh’s soul to rest in eternal Peace.
Ranariddh was President of Funcinpec Party, and also head of the Supreme Privy Advisory Council for the King.He was 77 years old.Prince Norodom Chakravuth is Ranariddh’s Acting President of Funcinpec Party.
He stated that the body of Prince Norodom Ranariddh would be flown to Cambodia in the near future in a statement Sunday evening.
Ranariddh, the second son of late King Norodom Sihanouk, was a half-brother to the current king Norodom Sihamoni.
He was a former co-Prime Minster from 1993 to 1997, and ex-President the National Assembly from 1998 through 2006.
