Davanagere, Karnataka, Nov 29 : .Basavaraj Bommai, Karnataka Chief Minister, made it clear Monday that there was no proposal for imposing lockdown in the state. “We have asked for strict precautions at colleges and schools, but not to close them.He said that there was no proposal to impose lockdowns.
Addressing media personnel in Davanagere he advised them not to panic over Omicron, the new Covid strain, and to strictly follow the Covid guidelines.
“Those arriving from Omicron-prevalent countries are being screened at airports.
Only those who have been tested negative will be allowed into the cities.Students from Kerala studying in Karnataka have to submit a negative Covid report.
A second test will be done on the 7th day after the first report.
He said that the state government is constantly in consultation with experts and Union governments, and that precautions are being taken according their guidelines.
Bommai answered a question regarding a South African citizen who was found to have different symptoms.The genome sequencing report would reveal the exact variant of the virus.
He stated that the state government was still waiting for instructions from the Centre regarding the administration of a booster dose.”Our concern is that the booster dose of the vaccine has not been administered to health workers for over six months.Bommai stated that we will follow the Centre’s instructions.
