The neighbouring state of Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, has been reluctant to supply bauxite ore to AP.It is learned that the Odisha government has stated that it is not possible to supply bauxite considering various factors, including price and transportation.With this, the state government wants the central government to intervene in this issue.

Penna Group and Ras Al Khaimah Investment Authority (RAKIA Group) have jointly set up an aluminium factory at Rachapalli in the Makavaripalem zone of Visakhapatnam district.

The joint AP government agreed in 2008 to supply bauxite to the factory.

The AP Mineral Development Corporation (APMDC) has stepped in to dig up the bauxite in Visakhapatnam and supply it there.

However, there was a big movement on bauxite mining.With this, the mining halted.

In 2016, Chief Minister Chandrababu rescinded the agreement.With this, RAKIA Group approached the High court asking for Rs.1100 crore compensation.With this, the Jagan government wants bauxite mining not to be done in AP and to be brought from neighbouring Odisha.

Discussions on this issue have been ongoing for the past year and a half.

It is learned that the Odisha government has recently expressed reluctance over the supply of bauxite.In this context, the AP government wants the Center to intervene and take steps to ensure that the Odisha government supplies bauxite to AP.
