42 students from Telangana’s residential school were positive for Covid

Hyderabad, Nov 29, : Covid-19 testing has been positive in 42 students and one teacher at a government-run residential school for women in Telangana’s Sangareddy District.
These cases were discovered at Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Gurukul School at Muthangi village, Sangareddy District, approximately 50 km from Hyderabad.

Covid testing was performed on 261 students out of 491 students who attended the school.42 students were infected.

On Monday, health authorities conducted tests on the remaining students.According to a health official, all 27 teachers and staff members were tested and one teacher was positive.

The DNA samples of students who had tested positive were sent to Hyderabad to be sequenced.According to the official, the infected students were kept in isolation at school premises in a hostel and were all stable.

Three days ago, a student fell ill.The school authorities decided to test all students because she was showing signs and symptoms of Covid.

This is the third instance of students being tested positive at large numbers in any Telangana educational institution within the past 10 days.After the virus was detected in 25 students and five employees at Mahindra University, Hyderabad, Mahindra University was closed.

For 1,700 students and staff, the authorities performed Covid tests.The positive tests were performed on 25 students, one faculty member, and four support staff.The university declared a 15-day holiday and started online classes on Monday.

29 students from a Khammam district government-run residential school and junior college were positive for the Coronavirus earlier.

The cases were reported to Wyra town’s junior college and school.After a few students had symptoms, the school authorities conducted tests on all 550 students.

This was the first time that so many students had been found to be positive since the state reopened its residential schools last month.

Telangana’s educational institutions were reopened in September 1.The High Court granted permission for residential schools to reopen in October, after the education department had given assurances that all preventative measures would be taken.
