Mumbai, Nov 29, : .The Maharashtra government has published the SOPs & guidelines to reopen all offline schools starting December 1, officials said.
This was despite the threat of Omicron, a new Covid-19 variant. These guidelines were issued late Sunday night in continuation of Prof.Varsha E.Gaikwad’s announcement on November 26.They mandate physical distancing, face masks, hygiene, and other guidelines to help schools prepare for the return of students.
On October 4, schools were opened for students in higher classes 8-12 in urban areas and 5-12 rurally.
There was a positive response and smooth handling from the schools.
The state, encouraged by the exercise and the decrease in the number and fatalities, will reopen Class 1-7 in cities and Class 1-4 in rural areas starting Wednesday.
Students who have symptoms will be refused entry to the school premises.Schools must maintain a clean campus with regular sanitisation.
All students must wash their hands frequently to avoid infection.
If more than five students test positive for Covid-19 within a week, the local authorities will review the school’s preventive measures and make a decision.
Schools are advised to use alternative attendance systems, avoid crowds such as prayers, prayers, games, and avoid gatherings.Quartet students must have access to online education.
Prof.Gaikwad spoke with optimism, stating that the reopening of schools would be smooth and secure starting December 1.
“From December 1, children as young at 6 years old will be able to return to school.Our priority is their safety and well-being.Prof.Gaikwad said that they had reviewed the preparedness for this stage of schools reopening with Zilla Parishad CEOs and Deputy Directors of Education, as well as other district-level officers.”
This development comes just days after the state government lifted all lockdown restrictions on November 27 to prepandemic levels, even as Omicron was raised.It raises questions about the future course of action.
