Kishida stated to local media that the decision was taken to avoid the worst-case scenario and that it was temporary until more information about Omicron variants becomes available,” Xinhua’s news agency reported.
Japan has already lifted the exemption for those who have visited nine African countries, including Botswana and Eswatini as well as Malawi, Lesotho and Mozambique, Namibia.
