At least 18 people were killed in a major accident on Saturday night in Haskhali, Nadia.The accident occurred at 3:00 a.m.when a matador carrying a dead body lost control of his vehicle and collided with a truck loaded with stone-chips.

“The matador carrying at least 30 passengers was heading towards Nabadwip, when it lost control and struck the truck that was standing by the side of Nabadwip.” “We have learned that the body was coming to Nabadwip from Bagda, North 24 parganss district.It was going to the crematorium,” a senior officer in police said.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Governor Jagdeep Dankhar, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah had condoled with the families of those who died in the accident.
