Chennai, Nov 29, : , A 3.6 magnitude earthquake struck 59 km southwest of Vellore city in Tamil Nadu at 0:59 AM on Monday.According to the National Center for Seismology the depth of the earthquake that occurred at 4.17 a.m.was 25 kilometers
According to the Tamil Nadu State Disaster Management Authority, there has not been any damage reported.
The tremors were felt in the border area between Vellore, Tirupattur and Tirupattur districts by Vellore District Collector Kumaravel Pandian.
Vellore had been flooded for several days.
Concrete houses that were decades old were destroyed in many areas of the district, as they were susceptible to collapse at any moment.
Since November 1, nineteen houses were washed away by the rains in the district.
The District Collector ordered the demolition of any houses that were in danger of collapse.
