Mahindra Kabira Festival concludes

Varanasi 29 Nov : .After two days of celebrating Kabir’s teachings through a wide variety of performances, the Mahindra Kabira Festival 2021 concluded Sunday night.
The final day was a celebration of the simple beauty of Kabir’s philosophy through mystic music and melodies.The performances demonstrated the coexistence between art and spirituality.

Prateek Narsimha, a Varanasi-based classical singer and teacher, opened the Morning Music.He presented devotional Bhajans of Kabir, including ‘Nar Te Kya Puraan Padh Keenha’ and ‘Maaya Maha Thageenee Ham Jaanee’.

Raag Nut Bhhairav and Drutkhayal were also part of his performance.

The Aahvaan Project presented some lively performances.

Conversations were held around Kabir by the artists, who shared stories about their daily lives that were inspired by the words of the latter.

Vedi Sinha, Aahvaan Project, said that singing is a way for me to share stories with others through music.”Kabir, Tum Kahan ho” is a conversation a little girl has with her elders.

Raman Iyer, a storyteller, author and musician, presented his thoughts on a few verses from Kabir to help understand work-life balance.

Iyer used songs and stories to discuss the modern-day work pressure.

He said that “Kabir’s verses had helped me find answers to many of my questions, including how to give a hundred percent without over-working.” How can we distinguish between dedication and a workaholic lifestyle.What is the difference between ambition or greed?

Askari Naqvi displayed a unique style in musical renditions during the next session, “Tarannum Se Kabir”.”Kabir in Tarannum” was a mix of Kabir’s well-known poems and some rare musical pieces.

“Kabir is free from everything and does not believe in any structure.

Naqvi stated that Kabir’s words are also free from any structure and are completely free-flowing in my singing style.

Naqvi began his performance with Kabir’s doha, Pinjar Prem Prakasiya.

He included ‘Dhuns’ and ‘Ragas’ belonging to Varanasi.This explained how Kabir viewed Ram, love, and knowledge.

Evening sessions began with Niranjali, DPS Varanasi Choir.

After the choir, the evening saw ‘Kabirakhada Bazaar Mein’, an iconic M.K.song.Raina and a modern interpretation of Kabir’s poetry.

Raina shared his thoughts about the session.

These verses, written in the 14th century, are still relevant and useful and provide us with solace.

The performance was followed by Kalapini Komkali, a classical Hindustani singer.

She performed in the style Zikr and introduced the audience to the love and view of Kabir among Malwa people.She performed ‘Kaun Thagwa Nagariya Lutal Ho” and ‘Sunta Hai Guru Gyani”, two of Kabir’s most famous bhajans.

Sanjoy K.Roy is the Managing Director of Teamwork Arts.He stated, “Old paradigms are giving way to new avenues for renewed energy in spite of all odds.” Kabir’s philosophy reflects the fact that human beings are able to adapt and move ahead.
