Bali, Nov 28, : , Viktor Axelsen from Denmark and An Seyoung from South Korea won the 2021 Indonesia Open singles titles.They were played here on Sunday. Axelsen, who won gold at Tokyo 2020, was challenged by Loh Kean Yew from Singapore.However, in the end, Axelsen won a 21-12 victory, 9-21, 21-13 victory in just 59 minutes.
The 27-year old Loh got off to a good start, winning the first game with a comfortable win.Loh, 24, responded and won the second match.
The third and decisive game was close-fought, but the Olympic champion held a lead of 11-6 at the half-way point.Loh tried to close the gap, but Axelsen won the match to win his second Super 1000 title.
He had also won the Denmark Open in October.
After beating Ratchanok Intanon of Thailand in the women’s singles final 21-17, 22-20, Seyoung from South Korea won her second World Tour title.
The 19-year old is currently ranked sixth in the world.She also added to her title Indonesia Masters 2021, which she won last week against Japan’s Yamaguchi Akae.
The women’s doubles final saw the home favorites for the title, Greysia Politi and Apriyani Rahayu go down to Shida Chiharu and Matsuyama Nami.
The Japanese duo became second to win back-2-to-back titles in Bali after beating the Olympic champions 21-19, 21-19 in a close fought match.
Matsuyama and Shida won the Indonesia Masters 2021 title last weekend.
Dechapol Puavaranukroh, the top mixed doubles seed, and Sapsiree Terattanachai, made it a hat trick of double victories in Bali.
They easily won their final against Higashino Arisa and Watanabe Yuta in Japan.
The bronze Tokyo 2020 medallists couldn’t keep up with the Thai team, who led from start-to-finish in both games to win (21-12, 21-13).
The victory was sweet revenge for Thais who lost to their opponents at the Denmark Open final in October.
Taerattanachai and Puavaranukroh win their third title of this season.
They have already won the Hylo Open and the Indonesia Masters before arriving in Bali.
After defeating Japan’s Hoki Takuro, 21-14, and 21-18 respectively, Marcus Fernaldi Gideon & Kevin Sanjaya Sukamuljo won the men’s doubles.
The Indonesians won back their defeat at last week’s Indonesia Masters final, narrowly losing to the Japanese team in a three-game thriller.
This was Gideon’s and Sukamuljo’s third consecutive Indonesian Open title.
They won it in 2018 and 2019, with no events being held last year.
