By Anjum Chopra Cricket during the pandemic! The culmination of a world cup is often considered. The world cup is the culmination of the highest levels of performance and consistency in the teams.

Once that cycle finishes, it prompts for a break before starting again. It should feel like a new start for both the player and team.

In an earlier article, I mentioned the jaded appeal of the Indian team during the ICC T20 World Cup.And the road that led there.Let’s now look at some other teams in international cricket.

After losing the final, New Zealand, the World T20 runners up, boarded a flight to India to play in a T20 series and Test series. The same players were used.India, which had the luxury of showcasing their home talent, managed a completely different look for their team.

Pakistani men flew directly from Pakistan to Bangladesh to participate in a T20 series, followed by a Test series. The Sri Lankan team will play West Indies in a Test series, while South Africa’s men will face the Netherlands.

What break is this? These are times when an event is over and a new one is scheduled for the next day. It’s no surprise that many of the captains and players talk about staying in the moment and not looking too far ahead. It is absolutely true! The game teaches us the same thing: play one ball at time.

While men’s cricket has seen lots of action, women’s cricket waited until after the pandemic break to get going. All teams weren’t as lucky as others. The worst was seen by Sri Lankan women, who will now be even more devastated by the news that they won’t be able to take part in the women’s World Cup.

The girls hadn’t regrouped since March 2020 when they played in the women’s T20 World Cup in Australia. They had never played competitive cricket.

Their chance to reserve a seat in New Zealand for 2022 was through the ongoing World Cup qualifiers held in Zimbabwe. The recent Covid epidemic in Africa has forced the tournament to be cancelled.

They will not be able make it to New Zealand.

The fear of losing talented players is real.Thailand, which was impressive in the tournament’s final, missed out on the final due to the cancellation of the event.Bangladesh, however, made it through after being eliminated from the 2017 World Cup.

A player trains to compete. The player’s mind and body are trained to perform.

However, inactivity can also have a negative impact.A senior loses time and exposure, while a young player is less exposed.A break is essential. That’s why weekends are so important in the corporate world. While office work can be done at home, sport requires an outdoor environment.

In the last 12-14 month, a lot of cricket was played and viewed.

Credit to all those who have been able to put it together. The players have also performed in very diverse environments, jumping from one bio-secure environment into another.

Situations like the one in Africa can occur at any moment and anywhere in this world.Prime examples are the IPL 2021 Indian leg and the ICC women’s qualifiers.

The full-time job of a player is to play the sport until he/she can play it again. The pandemic has robbed players of the luxury to make decisions, but their career with an early retirement age is a constant.
