Hyderabad, Nov 27, : Telugu’s film industry is in serious trouble after the Andhra Pradesh government decided to reduce movie ticket prices. The government has made it clear that distributors and producers can’t increase the price of their movies.
They also have lost control over many trade-related issues.
Big-budget Telugu movies will not make profits at this point, as the state government in Andhra Pradesh will lock up the movie ticket rates.Even if the movie is a big hit, some movies may not even be able to recover half of their investment.
Tollywood’s film distributors have been experiencing major turmoil due to ticket pricing.Even at this point, most production houses remain silent.
This silence by the bigwigs of Tollywood and movie-goers is hurting a section of Tollywood.”Why not ask questions about serious issues when unnecessary speeches, debates and controversies are highlighted? “Where is MAA now?” a Twitter user asked, asking why Tollywood producers are silent on the ticket issue.
Producers are left with few options and believe that the only option is to opt for OTT digital releases of their movies until the government loosens the restrictions on ticket pricing.
