Amman, Nov 27, : , Thousands of Jordanians protested the recent signing of a declaration of intent for an energy and water project with the UAE, Israel. Protesters demanded that the government cancel the cooperation agreement and the Jordanian-Israeli ceasefire, and urged the government to find other water sources, Xinhua news agency reported.
Similar demonstrations were also witnessed in other Jordanian cities that day.Protesters claimed that cooperation would be detrimental to the sovereignty of the kingdom.
The declaration of intent was made by Jordan’s Ministry of Water and Irrigation on Tuesday, November 23rd.It noted that negotiations are needed to determine if a Jordanian company can implement a renewable energy project.
