New Delhi, Nov 26th : , A Delhi Police official stated that they have arrested four criminals and busted a gang that dealt in illegal weapons. Benita Mary Jaiker, Deputy Commissioner of Police, stated that the Narcotics Squad staff in South District kept a close eye on public vehicle movements and set up checkpoints at strategic locations.
They received information on a person who was involved in illegal firearms supply on November 18.The official stated that more details about the person were obtained from social media platforms by the police.
Based on a tip-off that the accused was near Rajpur Khurd’s primary school, the police team set up a trap and arrested Pawan and Ankit.
Two pistols, one with five live cartridges and one from a country, were found in their possession.
The duo revealed that they had bought the arms and ammunition from Raju during a prolonged interrogation.Raju and Manish, another person identified as Manish were also taken into custody at their request.
Both Raju and Manish recovered a revolver and a long barrel gun with four live ammunitions, as well as a motorcycle that was used for transporting the weapons.
According to the official, during interrogation it was revealed that the weapons recovered from Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh were brought in order to sell them in Delhi/NCR at high prices.
“Further investigations are underway,” the official said.
